RGP delights youngsters with successful summer camp
The Royal Gibraltar Police summer camp for children has proved wildly successful this year and is back today for its final week-long session.
Over 80 children applied for the previous sessions, even though only 45 places were available. The session commencing today is also fully subscribed.
The camp combines learning about police work with fun activities that emphasize teamwork.
On the final day of the second of three RGP summer camps the children took part in water sports and played a game of ‘protect the VIP’ using riot shields.
The children took particular enjoyment out of throwing wet sponges at police officers Daniel Rodriguez and Simon Debono.
When applications for the camp became available the RGP was met with 80 applications in just 20 minutes and had to turn down many children. The first 45 children to apply that had not previously attended the camp were admitted.
Around 15 children attended the summer camp every day for a week.
