Rowing Marine heads home after Rock visit

The Rowing Marine, Lee Spencer, leaves the Rock today after a visit to personally thank his supporters.

Mr Spencer has also spent time collecting cheques from various entities who raised money for his charitable causes.

The latest donations were received via the Governor, Lieutenant General Edward Davis, who presented him with cheques for £28,970.80 raised in a number of different events.

While in Gibraltar Mr Spencer has spent time meeting with his supporters and followers, in particular the two men who made it possible to get his boat ‘Hope’ into the water, James Gonzalez and Simon Blakebrough, directors at Roquebrook Ltd.

Roquebrook is presently developing the old NatWest bank on Smith Dorrien Avenue into a hotel.

Once completed, the oars used by Mr Spencer to achieve his Guinness World Record will be mounted in the reception area.
