Tremor shakes Rock and Campo

Rock residents felt the tremors of an earthquake on Wednesday evening as a 3.5 Richter Scale quake with an epicentre of San Roque shook Gibraltar and the nearby Campo.

The quake took place at 9.02pm and was six kilometres deep. No one was reported to be hurt by the tremor.

Within minutes social media was awash with comments from those who felt it and those who did not, crockery rattled, dogs sensed something was amiss and people lazing on their couch felt a jolt.

The nearby Campo area was affected the most by the earthquake as the Bahia Plaza shopping centre was evacuated, as were some other large buildings.

In addition, Spanish emergency services received around 200 calls and attended some minor incidents.
