Westside pupils raise over £23,000 for charity
Westside School donated a record breaking £23,383 to various charities at a presentation held yesterday in the school’s gymnasium. The school surpassed last year’s total by just under a thousand pounds. Students filled the hall at the hour and a half long assembly, where the girls were applauded for their charitable efforts.
“This is an absolutely staggering amount, last year’s record has been broken and you should be proud of what you have done,” said Headteacher Michelle Barabich.
“You are excellent ambassadors for the school, and you are excellent role models for the community.”
Mrs Barabich thanked the students for all their hard work and commitment.
The youngest year groups, Year 8 and 9, raised £9,444.08 from their sponsored walk. Of this sum £444.08 was donated to Womb Cancer Support UK, and last year’s Westside School Head Girl Francesca Makey accepted a cheque on behalf of the charity.
