A snapshot of Gib in 2015 is sealed in a box

A letter from 11-year old St Bernard’s Middle School student Jasmine Thomson will be enclosed for future generations in a time capsule on the site of her new school tomorrow.

The location will be near the site where a previous historic cache was uncovered earlier this year behind a foundation stone laid by the Queen when she visited the Rock in May 1954.

The new time capsule will contain a selection of present day items including editions of the Gibraltar Chronicle in which the find from this year was reported.

Also included are copies of the plans for the school in hard copy and on an USB stick; a prospectus from St Bernard’s Middle School; the school’s copy books and tie; a letter from the Queen thanking Gibraltar for sending her birthday wishes and for passing so many years on the throne; Gibraltar University stamps; a list of all contractors working on the development; a coin celebrating the 75 year commemoration of the Evacuation; copies of Insight and Gibraltar magazine; and a letter from Project Director for the St Bernard’s development, Christopher Riddell.

Photographs included in the time capsule are of items found in the original cache, the Minister for Culture Steven Linares, people who worked on collecting information and the school’s pupils.
