All set for Gib and Spanish Civl War symposium and exhibition

Yesterday, the four retired members of Unite, Alfred Sacramento, Michael Netto and Alfred Olivero, who have led on this major undertaking by the union, were putting the finishing touches to the exhibition which opens today at the Bacarisas Gallery. 

With close to 500 people attending tonight’s symposium at the John Mackintosh Hall Gibraltar is about to add to the story of the role played by Gibraltar during the Spanish Civil War. 

Historians Dr Gareth Stockey, Dr Chris Grocott and Professor Pepe Algarbani, all experts in the field will form part of the symposium which will include an interview, exclusively recorded for the event, with Professor Paul Preston author of the book ‘The Spanish Holocaust’. 

Local speakers include Tommy Finlayson, Tito Benady and Tito Vallejo. The event has also received large interest from Spain and the symposium will see support from Spanish unions, UGT and Comisiones Obrera.
