Art treasure hunt all set for next week

Gibraltar Cultural services is organising an ‘Art Tour and Art Treasure Hunt’ for children aged eight and over.

The fun and interactive treasure hunt will run through the three galleries managed by GCS, the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery in City Hall, Gibraltar Exhibition of Modern Art in Montagu Bastion, and the Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates Square.

At the Mario Finlayson gallery the children will see the works of local artist Gustavo Bacarisas, Leni Mifsud, and Mario himself amongst others. This gives the children an opportunity to see what was being produced artiscally over 100 years ago.

At the GEMA gallery has an interesting military history, and houses works by local artist Christian Hook, who won the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2014. The gallery in Montagu Bastion also showcase the works of winners of International Spring and Young Art Competitions.

The Fine Arts Gallery in Casemates features a variety of exhibitions, including photography, sculpture and other mediums.

The event is open for children with an accompanying adult, and will take place on Tuesday 23 and 30 July, and August 6.

The tour starts at 10am and the meeting point is the Mario Finlayson Gallery in City Hall.
