British Forces Gibraltar supports Movember
For the fourth year running British Forces Gibraltar supported Movember and once again asked for willing ‘Mo Bros’ to endure a shave-free month throughout November.
All contestants were encouraged to sign up with the Princess Royal Medical Centre (PRMC), post pictures of their shaven faces on day 1 and raise sponsorship money.
The event concluded with judging day on November 30, where the contestants were competing in five categories. Guest judges were Victoria Henry, the wife of the Commander of the British Forces, and the Station Commander Wing Commander John Kane .
The winner of best gentleman's moustache was Cpl Arnold Ortlepp. The Manliest Moustache was won by CSgt Kevin Bloor. Best Teenage Boy Effort was awarded to
Sgt Rich Elliott. The Most Unique Moustache award was given to MA Kris Lawrence and the Best Moustache EVER!!! was given to WO1 Paul Winch.
This year’s Movember event was a great success and, together with sponsorship money and donations on the day, £765 was raised for the Movember Foundation.
For the second year running Sgt Rich Elliott was the lead fundraiser, raising £305 and still rising, achieving his goal to top the amount he raised last year.
Cpl Kris Jackson and the Unit Health Promotion Team said: “A special thank you to all moustache growers that committed themselves to changing the face of Men's Health and Sgt Harriet Bowen for setting up the event and Justgiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/modgibraltar.”
