Campo historical talks return to the Rock, with an eye on Brexit

For the first time in 16 years, the Gibraltar Government and the Mancomunidad de Muncipios have collaborated in organising a series of historical talks in Gibraltar on the Campo de Gibraltar.

A three day event at the John Mackintosh Hall was formally opened by the Minister for Culture Steven Linares, the president of the Mancomunidad, Luis Ángel Fernández, its vice president Marina García Peinado and the director of the Instituto de Estudios Campogibraltareños, Ángel Sáez.

The event began yesterday evening and continues through the weekend with talks on the working class of Gibraltar, the evacuation, Algeciras during the early 1800s and times of war in Spanish history. The talks are free and open for the public to attend.

“Today I have been excited about this very important event and I would like to give my thanks to Gibraltar and to the Minister for Culture,” Sr Fernández said.
