Childline highlights teen mental health issues

Childline Gibraltar is supporting Mental Health Awareness Week with a stall at Gibraltar College yesterday and another stall at Bayside School today.

The aim of the stalls is to ensure teenagers are aware of mental health issues and to come forward if they feel they are not coping. Childline members spent the day interacting with College students and encourage teens to talk about issues that are bothering them.

“We have quite a number of children and teenagers with mental health issues in Gibraltar, which we are obviously very concerned about and we have seen an increase in the number of calls we get on the helpline,” said Childline Chairperson Connie Attwood.

Childline is very keen to support Mental Health Week and have produced leaflets for the event.

Yesterday’s stall was centred on the theme of relationships and how positive relationships can impact your life. Other focuses included exam related stress ahead of this year’s GCSE and A Level exams.
