Cornwall’s Lane petition gains traction

A petition to create speed bumps along Cornwall’s Lane has received more than 300 signatures.

The petition was started by Ruth Levy Schischa and has been endorsed by other residents.

A concerned citizen, David Benady, recounted an incident last week where a car swerved into Uncle Sam’s shop on corner of Cornwall’s Lane.

“But there was also the time when that careless motorcyclist crashed into Mothercare,” he said.

“Two weeks ago another motorbike crashed into a young girl.”

“Many cars and motorbikes come up City Mill Lane and then swerve round corners on Cornwall’s Lane too quickly with no sensitivity to the fact that pedestrians are on the actual road due to lack of pavement on that stretch.”

“Luckily only slight injuries have resulted from accidents so far but it should not take a fatality god forbid for road safety measures to be implemented,” he added.
