Developer has plans for Dolphin restaurant in Camp Bay

Planning permission for a new development at Camp Bay has been filed with Town Planning.

The application seeks to demolish the existing Dolphin restaurant building and to construct a new building that will have apartments, restaurants and parking and other associated amenities such as a swimming pool.

The existing public pools at Camp Bay will remain untouched, but the project has nonetheless raised concern on social media, where people to a perceived loss of public space and parking.

However John O’Reilly, the architect whose company JOR Designs designed the project, said the developer, Stanley Olivero, hoped to provide a new building over the same footprint of the existing Dolphin restaurant.

“The new building will not encroach the existing beach bathing area, thus there will be no loss of space for beach goers,” said the developer in a statement sent by Mr O’Reilly to the Chronicle.
