GARA end of season reception
GARA Media Release - “Last month the Gibraltar Amateur Rowing Association (GARA) held their annual End of Season Reception. This is an evening which brings together the athletes and coaches from the MRC and CRC, as well as sponsors and officials, to celebrate the achievements of the previous season. Also in attendance on the evening was Sir Joe Bossano, on behalf of HM GoG and Shaun Zammitt, on behalf of Gibtelecom and the Gibtelecom Small Boats League.”
“This year GARA arranged for Zoe De Toledo to be present on the evening. Zoe is a British Rowing Olympian who won a Silver Medal in the Women’s Coxed Eight in the 2016 Olympics. Targeted specifically at the Junior Rowers, Zoe gave a talk around her experience in the lead up to the 2016 Olympics, emphasising the importance of commitment and determination.”
“Both the MRC and CRC were then able to enjoy a day of coaching by Zoe over the course of the weekend. This proved to be successful as she was able to share information and tips around how to improve as a coach and cox.”
“During the evening various awards were given out, including GARA’s Rower of the Year awards. This were are follows;

“GARA would like to congratulate all the winners of the evening, especially the Calpe Rowing Club for once again winning the Paul Garbarino overall season trophy. Both clubs have already started their pre-season training in order to be ready for the ever exciting season opener, the Baker CC 7km endurance in December. It is hoped that this season will again see close competition from both clubs locally, as well as strong performances from the athletes abroad.”
