Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS) held a storytelling morning at Commonwealth Park recently as part of their cultural programme of activities for young people to enjoy this summer.

These include two art-related workshops (Printmaking, July 18 at 11am, and a workshop on July 25, at 11am), a dance/ movement class (Move to Create on July 11, 11am) and a yoga session (July 10, at 11am), all at the GEMA Gallery in Montagu Bastion and delivered by teachers and contributors; Cristina Rodriguez, Naomi Duarte, Zoe Bishop, Nikki Bishop and Kationa Matto.

Outdoor Storytelling, which proved popular last year, returns and will again go on tour at some of Gibraltar’s green outdoor spaces and cultural venues (the GEMA Gallery on July 9, Campion Park on July 16, and the Mario Finlayson Gallery on July 23, all at 10am).

These sessions, which aim to engage and stimulate young readers, are delivered by committed volunteers and are ideal for youngsters aged three to seven. Booking is essential.

The Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery will remain open to the public through the summer months with a range of self-led activities on offer.

Young people and children are encouraged to visit the Gallery at the City Hall and explore the artwork on show through interactive activities and a discovery trail, among other events, while others will be able to view the artworks and find out more using QR codes.

GEMA Gallery will also be welcoming visitors with an interactive vault set-up offering some creative experiences for young people.

GCS will also be supporting The Mindspace Project with their ‘Summer Camp with a Difference’.

The aim of the programme is to broaden children’s education about Gibraltar by visiting places of cultural interest as well as the GEMA Gallery, with Street Art Mural walks part of the offering too.

The Gibraltar Photographic Society will also be delivering some sessions to the group to promote basic photography skills and awareness of capturing our
