Gibraltar gets ready to play its first walking football international

Gibraltar’s national team prepared itself on Wednesday to play against England this coming Saturday morning. It was not quite the usual way, there was little running and only half the main pitch was being used.
Yet the intensity and focus on preparing well was just as high as one would expect from a player representing Gibraltar. Gibraltar was about to debut in a full international walking football match at the Victoria stadium.
Since the GFA grassroots department brought the sport to Gibraltar a couple of years ago every week the older generations who still enjoy, their football have been given an opportunity practice the sport.
On Saturday an over 60’s selection will take to the field donning the Gibraltar shirts against an England Over 65’s. Though many will think that because running is not allowed the match will have less of the intensity or excitement of ‘real’ football’ they might be proven wrong.
