Gibraltar XI to play CD San Roque in club’s 50th anniversary

A Gibraltar football development squad will take on Club Deportivo San Roque to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary on March 26, 2016.

Steven Gonzalez, Gibraltar FA Communications Manager, said the national association was approached by CD San Roque and was more than happy to help with celebrations.

“This is the first thing we have done together with San Roque and we are happy to help them out wherever we can,” he said.

In an interview with the Chronicle Abel Garcia Nuñez, CD San Roque President, said that this was an historic fixture that would be the highlight of the club’s 50^th anniversary.

“There is nothing more beautiful than to see Gibraltar play against San Roque, considering the history between both places,” he said. “Both emblems are very similar, so that will also be special.”
