Gold and silver for Gibraltar in British Junior Rowing Championships

priorandvinalesThe Calpe Rowing Club crew bring back gold and silver from their participation in the British Rowing Junior Championships during the weekend. Also several victories in the minor finals held during the weekend.
On Sunday the Calpe Rowing Club took gold when Julian Vinales and Jack Prior won the OJ18 double sculls Final A with a time of 07:20.60. Coming from behind after being neck and neck but just split seconds behind at the 1000m mark Calpe went through first past the 1500m to go through to win through to the finish line. They completed the course in 07.20.60 to notch their second gold medal.
Their silver medal came in the same afternoon when the WJU18 2 Final A saw the Calpe crew of Risso and Smart come in behind Lea RC to take silver with an 08.49.95 time after being edged in the final stretch.
The first finals victory came in the form of the minor finals when in the OJ16 Double sculls Final C, Licudi and Payas completed the course in 08.09.09 to come first across the finish line first for the first finals victory for Calpe on Saturday.
The local crew had been just split second behind the eventual runners up from Mossbourne Academy at the 1000m mark.
Calpe also took runners up in the WJ16 single sculls Final C with a time of 09.35.15 on completion of the course on Saturday.
In the OJ 12 double sculls they were just two seconds from obtaining a third place with a time of 06.10.8 leaving them fifth in the final.
