Just four clubs received UEFA License

The Gibraltar Football Association’s Club Licensing First Instance Board (FIB) has granted all of the Association’s member clubs a license for the 2024/25 season.
Significantly the licences awarded ruled out three of the teams that played in the last six of the league this season. Mons Calpe, Europa Point and Manchester 62 all missing out on UEFA Club Licensing, with the only other side outside of the top three being Lions Gibraltar. The latter having been awarded the license on consecutive seasons.
Troubled Manchester 62, who only last week announced that they were to receive a $20 million angel fund investment, and whose owner last week confirmed that wages had not been paid prior to this also failed to obtain a gold licence, joining College 1975 and Glacis United as the three teams with silver licences.
This year has seen the introduction of tighter and stringer regulations, especially in the area of club finances, which are in line with UEFA’s evolution of their club licensing regulations. This has in turn meant that it has become much harder in 2024 to obtain a UEFA Club License.

Licenses Awarded by the Gibraltar FA’s FIB:

UEFA Club License:
Lincoln Red Imps FC
St Joseph’s FC
FCB Magpies
Lions Gibraltar FC

Domestic Licenses:
Gibraltar FA Gold License

Europa Point FC
Lynx FC
Europa FC
Mons Calpe SC

Gibraltar FA Silver License:

College 1975 FC
Glacis United FC
Manchester 62 FC

At the time of releasing the names of clubs that had received UEFA Club Licenses none had as yet published their annual accounts publicly. Something which clubs will be obliged to do prior to starting their European competitions.
With UEFA also looking at setting new rules which will see clubs playing in competitions only able to spend 70% of their revenue on salaries, Gibraltar clubs could see their budgets further tightened in the future.
