‘Nothing clarified’ on Gib home match venues

UEFA has announced the venues for Gibraltar home matches as El Faro in Portugal on its official website. A spokesman for the Gibraltar FA meanwhile has told the Chronicle no decision had as yet been made on where the matches would ultimately be played.

Steven Gonzalez, press spokesperson for the Gibraltar FA explained, “nothing has been clarified” as to where the matches will be played. He further added that whilst the venue has been advertised as El Faro by UEFA no tickets are being sold for the matches.

Mr Gonzalez further said that there had been “no decision” made by UEFA yet on the actual use of the Victoria Stadium as the proposed venue for home matches.

“As soon as a decision is made we will make an announcement,” he said further highlighting that the GFA continues to “try as much as we can to have the matches played in Gibraltar.”

“If it was up to us to make the announcement it would have been made already for Gibraltar.”
