Picardo urges UK to lift ban on Brexit contingency planning
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo is lobbying the British Government to “drop the Whitehall ban” on discussion on Brexit contingency plans.
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo told the Press Association he was lobbying Europe Minister David Lidington to allow discussions on issues such as whether Gibraltar would be included in any post-Brexit trade deals.
Officials in Whitehall have been instructed to only discuss winning the Referendum and therefore no one has been talking about a Brexit but the Chief Minister believes the issue is simply too great for Gibraltar and believes a Brexit needs to be under discussion.
