Police warning on fake £50 notes
Police have warned that fake sterling £50 notes are circulating in Gibraltar.
Four people - two British men resident in Gibraltar and two Spanish nationals - were arrested in recent days trying to use the counterfeit notes.
"A total of six reports of 'Passing a Counterfeit Currency' have been received, with a total of eight notes detected and seized," the Royal Gibraltar Police said in a statement.
All the notes were Bank of England £50 denomination and bore the serial No: AH66 449134.
The notes are not good fakes and the paper they are printed on is not texture and is of significantly poorer quality than a genuine note.
Additionally the counterfeit notes lack a magnetic strip.
