Runway fashion competition back on track

Runway, a fashion designing competition, has returned to the Rock after a two year break, with this year’s finalists announced.

Kerry Cervan, Lisa Cronin and Tyan Borrell will be showing their collections in a bid to win the 2018 New Designer Competition.

The event, which will now take place biennially, will see three local designers compete for a chance to travel to London to work alongside established designers and have a photoshoot of their collections shot on location.

The Gibraltar Youth Service will also be showcasing their wearable arts show for the very first time on the Runway stage.

Winner of the 2016 competition, Gail Howard, is back on the catwalk with a new collection that has never been seen before in Gibraltar.

UK singer songwriter Blair Jollands will be performing in the Runway Lounge. Mr Jollands has previously worked with the likes of Madonna and Rihanna and collaborated with Gordon Raphael from The Strokes.

Runway’s first international show of the evening will feature a collection from Ricardo Andrez for Portgual. Mr Andrez has a unique take on sporty streetwear style and has shown his works in Paris, London, Barcelona and in Madrid Fashion Weeks.

Designer Sadie Clayton has returned to the Rock not only to show her new collection, but also as the main judge for the competition. Ms Clayton was last in Gibraltar at for Runway 2015 where she showed her Copper Girl collection.

The final international designers are Charles Borg and Ron Van Maarschalkerweerd. The duo is fresh off the catwalks from Los Angeles and New York Fashion Weeks.
