Valencia EC Knocks Out Lincoln Red Imps U14s in Iber Cup Quarter-Final

The U14 team faced a tough challenge last week, falling 3-1 to Valencia EC in the Iber Cup quarter-final. Despite a valiant effort, Liam Payas’s lone goal couldn’t prevent the loss against the strong Spanish team.
The quarter-final match came after a busy and eventful day for the young squad. They began the day with a solid 2-0 win over FCB Magpies, thanks to goals from Jonathan Rowbottom and Lucas Hill. This followed a 2-2 draw against SG Sacavenense B, showing the team’s resilience and determination.
Throughout the Iber Cup, the U14s displayed their competitive spirit in line with Lincoln Red Imps well known resilience and teamwork. In their third game, they delivered a commanding 6-0 victory over Portuguese side EFBO. Goals from Jaxsen Ramirez, Jonathan Rowbottom, Lucas Hill, Kaion Drakes, and a brace from Liam Payas highlighted their offensive strength.
Earlier in the tournament, they had an exciting 3-3 draw with Atletico Zabal, in what was a competitive and fiercely played contest.
The tournament began on a high note with Jonathan Rowbottom scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Algeciras. His performance, along with the team’s overall effort, has been a highlight of their Iber Cup journey.
Despite their exit in the quarter-final, the U14s provided promise with Lincoln Red Imps building their squads towards their next levels. The U14s especially boosted by the fact their Under 17 team will be competing in the UEFA Youth league. This providing an added incentive for players to progress through the ranks with opportunities to play at a high level even before arriving to senior football.
The experience gained from this high-level competition will undoubtedly benefit these young athletes in their future endeavors.
