GSLP/Liberals would win third term, poll finds

The GSLP/Liberals would secure a third term in office should a general election take place today, according to an opinion poll published by Panorama yesterday.

The results of the poll found that the GSLP/Liberals would secure 56% of the vote.

This represents a reduced majority in comparison to the same poll conducted ahead of the 2015 general election. In that poll the current administration secured 68% in what was a two party election.

The two Opposition parties – the GSD and Together Gibraltar – would split the remainder of the vote, with the GSD edging ahead with 25% compared to the 19% Together Gibraltar would secure.

In Panorama’s 2015 poll the GSD pulled 31% of the vote.

In the 2015 election the Alliance stormed to victory with 68% of the vote, with the GSD obtaining 32%.

The poll also established that seven percent of the electorate would vote blank whilst four percent would vote for a mixture of candidates.

According to Panorama the poll was carried out before Christmas across the 14 electoral areas in Gibraltar.

It did not state how many people were polled.
