Action4Schools raises £18,000 during Christmas campaign

Action4Schools Christmas campaign has raised £18,000 that will go towards the construction of seven water wells in Sierra Leone.

Over winter season Action4Schools Sierra Leone held four raffles of lottery tickets which raised £10,000. The charity raised a further £8,000 with the sale of their chocolate Santa’s.

It is estimated the water wells will be able to provide safe water to 1,500 children.

“We have been overwhelmed by the public's generous response to the raffles which involved the participation of many volunteers who helped us achieve our target of selling out and ensuring we could raise enough to provide four new water projects in Sierra Leone,” charity founder Jimmy Bruzon said.

“The community in Gibraltar has been amazing in their support and we are pleased to say that we will be bringing clean, safe water to around 1,500 children in Freetown as a result of this fundraising project.”

“We estimate that three million people in Sierra Leone do not have access to clean water and we are doing our bit to provide this basic of needs to as many schools as we can.”

Mr Bruzon added that it costs as little as £10 a month to pay the water bill of a school in Sierra Leone.

“We encourage everyone with a bit of spare cash to set up a monthly standing order,” Mr Bruzon said.

“Regular giving will bring regular progress and will change people's lives, it is amazing what we can achieve by giving just a little time or supporting financially, every little helps and 100% hits the ground."
