Calpe Giants dropped to bottom of the table

The every changing face of cricket on the Rock continued to show its face as the final final game of the 2024 Gibraltar Premier League took place and saw the Calpe Giants fall to another consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of the Harding Hurricanes.
Calpe Giants having played in the European Cricket League finished bottom of the tabe with the victory seeing Hurricanes climb up to third place.
The Winners of the 2024 Dafabet Premier League were the Mediterranean Vikings. Finishing top of the pile Net Run Rate, the Vikings have qualified for the 2025 European Cricket League where they will battle it out against the other European Teams.
This the first time the Vikings will be heading to the ECL which has brought the spotlight back on cricket providing it with a boost.
The sport this season will have to share facilities with both football and rugby as football now moves to Europa Sports Complex.
Various options are being looked at on how best to work allocations to accomodate fixtures such as the ECL fixtures if required.
In the meantime Gibraltar Cricket has announced two further events to its schedules for youth and women’s cricket.
The Summer Slam will be taking place at the Victoria Stadium Pitch 2 every Tuesday and Wednesday between 16th July to the 14th August.
Whilst at the same time Cricket has announced the Women’s Softball cricket sessions every Tuesday from 6.30 to 8.30 at the Europa Sport Park indoor facilities.
