Fagan is overall winner of annual photographic competition

Gerry Fagan was the overall winner of the 51st annual Gibraltar Photographic Competition held at the John Mackintosh Hall.

The prizes were presented by Governor Edward Davis on Monday and Ross McKelvey from Belfast adjudicated the event.

Mr Fagan scoped the top prize with his portrait titled ‘Sad Clown’. The photo was taken a few months ago at a body paint workshop where he was inspired to edit the photo as if the clown was trapped in a poster.

Sad clown also won first place in the colour individual prints section.

“It is absolutely fantastic winning the best colour photo and overall winner with the same photograph which was the sad clown and I think the best part of it is to win the overall because the actual trophy is the Arturo Harpers trophy,” Mr Fagan told the Chronicle.

“This means an awful lot to me because Mr Harper is a legend here and to win his trophy to me is absolutely fantastic. It is the icing on the cake.”

There were 17 prizes in total including first and second place and a further 19 highly commended certificates.
