Feetham ponders leadership prospects after next election

GSD Leader, Daniel Feetham, has confirmed that he will step down from that role should he lose the next general election.

In an interview with the GBC show City Pulse on Thursday night, Mr Feetham was asked when he would call it a day in terms of his political career.

He said: “If I lose the next election I will be stepping down as Leader of the Opposition.”

“I would then stay supporting the new leader to the hilt as a front bench member… so that we have the best possible chance four years afterwards,” he added.

“Obviously I intend to win the next election,” Mr Feetham said.

He believes he will inevitably be proved right in respect of issues like public finances.

“My political career will stand or fall on that,” he claimed.

“I believe over the next three years what you will see is a lot of the things we have been saying about public finances and other things resonating with people.”

“People will look at it and say Daniel Feetham was right when he made those points.”
