GBC sets new Open Day record

GBC has broken its Open Day record once again this year. With monies still coming in the total currently now stands at £135,000.

This was confirmed by GBC’s CEO, Gerard Teuma, who said they had already surpassed last year’s figure of £130,000.

“We are still waiting for Gib Oil's contribution following their 1p per litre sold campaign, and yesterday the RGP presented another cheque for a £1,000 at their Christmas party,” he said.

Mr Teuma said he was grateful and extremely pleased with the response the GBC Open Day has received this year from the community at large.

“It seems to grow every year. The number of events held on GBC's behalf has been incredible, and the support given to these by the public and the business community has been wonderful,” he emphasised.

“Raising this kind of money for such a small community cannot be under estimated, and we should all as Gibraltarians be very proud of the achievement,” he added.

The GBC Open Day is one of the main events on the Rock’s social calendar.

Now the focus will turn “to giving” explained Mr Teuma and the Open Day Trust's Board of Trustees will during the course of the year consider bids from locally-registered charities for funding of specific projects.

“Our trustees will ensure that every penny goes to a worthy cause,” he added.
