Gibraltar Academy of Dance in Dance Proms 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall

The Gibraltar Academy of Dance will perform at this year’s UK Dance Proms 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall. They were selected from hundreds of entries from the UK and around the world and will form part of the Dance Proms Company 2016. They will perform their piece ‘The Chocolatier’ which will be one of just 22 pieces performed on the night.

“This is the first time a dance group from Gibraltar has been selected to perform in this event. When we decided to enter we sent in eight piece and just to have one selected is an incredible achievement, “ said Principal of the academy Paulette Finlayson.

Over the years Dance Proms has supported by many well-known dancers including Darcey Bussell as well as a wide range of industry professionals.

Other groups this year include: Academia Roysel Alfonso, Academia Veneta di Danza e Balletto, Academy Theatre Arts, Centre Stage Dance Academy, Danscentre, Dance Unity, Diamond Dancentre, Dupont Dance Stage School and Expressions Theatre.

The event will be held on October 30th.

The Chocolatier was originally choreographed to represent Gibraltar at the European IDO championships where it received third place in its category.
