Hjørring Dominates Europa in 11-1 Futsal Champions League Masterclass
In a commanding display at Park Vendia Hallen, Hjørring secured a decisive 11-1 victory over Europa in the UEFA Futsal Champions League Preliminary Round. The Danish side’s relentless attack left their Gibraltarian opponents reeling, as Hjørring took control from the opening seconds and never looked back.
The match was barely underway when Casper Knudsen found the net just 26 seconds in, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided affair. Gustav Svaneborg was the standout performer, notching four goals and demonstrating his clinical finishing. His first strike came in the 5th minute, followed by another in the 10th minute, completing his hat trick early in the second half at 23:07, and adding a fourth at 33:22.
Europa struggled to contain Hjørring’s offensive firepower, with William Gantzhorn, Ermin Kasumovic, and Mathias Toft Winther also getting on the scoresheet. Mads Falck contributed two goals of his own, while Mads Kjelgaard Nielsen capped off the scoring in the 38th minute, benefiting from a precise assist by Christiansen.
Europa’s lone bright spot came in the 31st minute, when Alvaro Caravante managed to slot the ball past Møller-Lund to score their only goal of the match. However, Europa’s joy was short-lived as they quickly conceded again, compounded by the dismissal of Rodriguez in the 33rd minute after receiving a second yellow card.
Despite some attempts by Europa to claw back, including efforts from Batista and Ramirez, Hjørring’s defense, led by goalkeeper Møller-Lund, remained resolute. Møller-Lund’s numerous saves kept Europa at bay, ensuring the hosts maintained their overwhelming lead.
This victory puts Hjørring in a strong position in Group E as they look to advance further in the tournament. For Europa, the defeat marks a tough lesson in the unforgiving nature of European futsal competition. With one matchday left in the preliminary round, Hjørring will be brimming with confidence, while Europa will need to regroup quickly to salvage some pride in their final outing.
