Port pitches services in Athens event

The Gibraltar Port Authority attended the Posidonia 2016 exhibition in Athens earlier this week.

The maritime industry's global showcase is held every two years in the Greek capital, this year’s event was opened by the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras.

Commodore Bob Sanguinetti, CEO and Captain of the Port said: “This is a major international platform from where we can continue to promote the full range of excellent port related services available in Gibraltar and I am delighted to be here.”

Daniel Perera, Bunkering Superintendent, the Gibraltar Port Operators’ Association (GPOA) and around 20 port and bunker operators who were representing Gibraltar at the international exhibition joined him.

“The event brought together over 1.800 exhibitors from 89 countries for a week of intense networking and business dealings between the world’s most prominent shipping industry executives,” said a Port spokesperson.

Albert Isola, the minister for Maritime Services said: the “Government of Gibraltar is highly supportive of the shipping sector and has pledged to work closely with professionals in the industry. To assist the Port to develop solutions and initiatives, in order to provide an even better offering to the international shipping sector and attendance at this type of event is essential.”

“I am also very grateful to the Gibraltar sponsors and attendees for their outstanding support”.
