Royal Academy artists exhibit in Gibraltar

Tonight sees the opening of the first ever Royal Academicians Exhibition on the Rock. Described as a major landmark exhibition, ‘Lines and Colours’ at the Gustavo Bacarisas Gallery brings together three UK artists: Barbara Rae, Ann Christopher and Anne Desmet.

It will be officially opened by Culture Minister Steven Linares and has been organised by Gibraltar Cultural Services following a series of meetings at the Royal Academy of Arts.

All three artists are Royal Academicians themselves and their link to the Rock is that they have adjudicated Gibraltar’s international exhibition in the past.

“We are committed to a major exhibition every year and this exhibition was first spoken about back in 2011. We want to show, not just the artistic fraternity locally, but to the public at large important works by professional artists that are not local. To be a Royal Academician is virtually to be amongst the top 80 artists in the UK today. So you really can’t get much better than this,” said Yvette Zarb Bensusan, CEO Gibraltar Cultural Services.
