Squash pair provide exciting final but finish with silver

The Europa Sports complex squash courts saw it's first finals where Gibraltarian took to the court.
After a convincing win against Bermuda earlier on Anthony Brindle and Christian Navas were in with a shot at gold.
Even though the pair had qualified only a few hours earlier the spectators stands were filling up to watch. Among them many a fireman who had come to support Christian.
Although it was a bit of a wait the crowds patiently waited to watch the duo in their bid for a gold medal. The two guaranteeing themselves silver.
It was nice to see how an this occasion due to the fact the final was at home it meant that family and friends werearound to watch. Just minutes before the match Brindle sat with his young daughter to play and ease the nerves.
The final was to be decided in just two sets with Cayman Islands the eventual winners.
It was, however, an exhilarating finale which was engaged by the close to 250 people watching, many of them children.
Brindle and Navas provided the local crowd excitement as they kept in touch with their opponents in the first game. At one stage taking the lead. It was not meant to be as the Cayman Island’s pair took first blood with a 15-13.
Gibraltar's pair fell behind early on in the second part with the score at 9- 5 they started to come back into the game.
Just when they were at 12-11 an unlucky hit gave Cayman Island the point. Then the pair were dealt a further blow when Navas
looked to have been obstructed from getting the ball and tumbled. The call going against him.
The Cayman Islands ended by finishing it with a 15-11 victory.
Gibraltar took the silver.
