Lincoln Red Imps recieved a massive boost to theirsquad with the announcement of the return of Tjay De Barr from Wycombe Wanderers.
The young talent, considered one of the best players to have emerged from the latest crop of players since UEFA membership is one of Lincoln Red Imps youth development protegies. Having risen through the ranks, the player then moved to Europa where he had some success with the club before a spell in Spain and a subsequent return to Gibraltar to play for Lincoln Red Imps.
A move to Wycombe Wanderers saw his grab some media attention but never took off as many had expected. His role coming on infrequently from the bench and with several injuries also hindering his progress not seeing the young player display his full potential at the club. His departure from Wycombe Wanderers was received with support from many Wanderers fans wishing him well and accusing the club of never having given the player a chance. His exploits on the pitch, along with his goals and determination gaining much support from Wycombe Wanderers supporters.
His return to Gibraltar will be a major boost for both Lincoln Red Imps where he is likely to combine with new signings and join a squad which should see players such as Graeme Torrilla and Julian Valarino soon returning from prolonged injuries. Making Lincoln Red Imps a formidable squad in terms of the depth in strength the club has at its disposal.
His return will also boost the national squads preparations as they prepare for their playouts against Lithuania. With Tjay De Barr and Jayce Olivero returning to the Gibraltar league, their availability for national team preparations and assessment of players will be of benefit to the national squad at a key moment in which survival in the Nations League C is at stake.
In their announcement this week on the return of Tjay De Barr, Lincoln Red Imps officials wrote, “ Tjay came through our youth ranks before leaving in 2019 and would later rejoin in a year later. His potential continued to shine through which caught the eye of the League One side in 2021. An important experience as he continues his footballing journey with his boyhood club and welcome him back with open arms.
“His attacking power will add more quality to Javi Munoz’s side after Kun’s perfect debut last Sunday and the arrival of Tarik Gidaree. As we look ahead to an important next few months, Tjay’s move is a major message of intent as we defend our league title.
“With Brunos our next game this Sunday, Tjay will be eager to get into Javi’s squad and there’s no better way to announce your arrival than in such an important fixture for the team.
“We would like to thank Wycombe for allowing this transfer to go through and wish them the very best this season.”
Tjay De Barr’s arrival also coincides with the departure of Kike and arrival of new signings who have already stamped their mark with debut goals.
