Walker transfers to St Joseph

As the Gibraltar national team prepared for its friendly international against Scotland, St Joseph was to make a surprise announcement with the signing of now former Lincoln Red Imps midfielder Liam Walker.
The veteran international, who has won league championship titles with both Europa and Lincoln Red Imps, will be donning the blue and white of St Joseph this summer as the Saints head into the Europa Conference League before the start of the domestic campaign.
It is understood that the player’s request for an increase in salary was turned down by Lincoln Red Imps paving the way for his departure.
With the return to fitness of both Graeme Torrilla and Julian Valarino, and with already a strong presence in midfield, Liam Walker faced competition for places.
He is nevertheless, still considered as one of the top midfield players on the Rock playing an instrumental role for both Lincoln and the national team in recent years.
His arrival at St Joseph is hailed as the clubs statement of intent for the forthcoming season after failing to claim the title in the final weeks of the competition.
