Gibraltar leads UK Cybersecurity Challenge

Gibraltar currently leads the UK Cybersecurity Challenge and was close to guaranteeing a place in the finals at Bletchley Park, UK, at the close of this publication yesterday.

The UK Cybersecurity Challenge involves over 40 teams from around the UK solving problems and securing operating systems which increase in difficulty as the rounds progress.

The Gsec_ team, led by Bayside School student Jan Azzopardi, stormed through the first two rounds of the competition, almost gaining maximum points, but nevertheless securing top spot.

“I have really enjoyed being part of this,” said Mr Azzopardi who was home-schooled for three years before joining Bayside. “There is a lot of focus on competitive sport in Gibraltar, so this is a great option for those who are not so athletic to show their expertise in their own field.”
