Gib and Cadiz initiate ‘natural collaborative’ neighbourly relations

Scores of Spanish provincial and national media greeted Chief Minister Fabian Picardo on his official visit to Cadiz yesterday to boost neighbourly relations through business, cultural, social and educational links. Mr Picardo met with the President of the Diputación de Cadiz, Doña Irene Garcia of the PSOE, at the Diputación’s headquarters in Cadiz.

Jesus Solis and Salvador Puerto from the Diputación del Campo de Gibraltar were also present. He then paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Cadiz, José María González Santos from Podemos at the Ministry of Cadiz.

“We are putting flesh to the bones of cooperation through creating technical working groups that will be able to give us final proposals on how to see things materialise,” Mr Picardo said in an interview with the Chronicle following the meetings.

“I think that this indicates that we are moving in the direction of actually seeing a realistic outcome.”

The meeting came off the back of the Chief Minister’s official visit to San Roque and La Linea Mayor’s rendezvous in Gibraltar earlier this year which harboured similar motives.
