Preparatory work commenced on Monday ahead of the demolition of the southern section of the extension jetty in the inner harbour.

The demolition work will be carried out by the barge K9128, which will be moored alongside the jetty.

The barge will deploy a s silt screen around itself and the extension jetty, according to a Notice to Mariners issued by the Gibraltar Port Authority.

There will also be an anchor chain deployed south of the jetty and marked by a light buoy.

There will be a strict 30m exclusion zone to the east and west of the jetty and 100m to the south.

“All maritime users are to keep away from this area at all the times,” the port notice said.

“Maritime users are also to keep to the south of the marker buoy to avoid the barge’s anchor chain.”
