‘Bet on entrepreneurs’, Juan Verde tells Gibraltar

Gibraltar must “bet on its entrepreneurs” and foster innovation to remain competitive in a global economy, US corporate and political advisor Juan Verde said yesterday.

Drawing from past experiences where innovative ideas have boosted political campaigns in which he has been involved, Mr Verde called President Barack Obama a true entrepreneur and detailed why Hillary Clinton was unable to clinch the title of president.

“Innovation is the key to be competitive,” Mr Verde said at a lecture hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Gibraltar.

“If you want to be innovative, if you want to raise the ratio of innovation in your country or your company, you actually have to bet on your entrepreneurs.”

“Yes there is room for innovation and even entrepreneurship within companies.”

The event held at the Garrison Library was attended by former Minister for Education Gilbert Licudi, current Minister for Education Dr John Cortes, Chief Secretary Ernest Gomez and Director of Education Joey Britto.
