Calpe House in £5 million fundraising drive

Calpe House in London held a fundraising event at the Piazza yesterday in a bid to raise £5million to refurbish three newly purchased buildings.

The House has been, which has been coined a ‘home-away-from-home’, is for local residents who are receiving medical treatment in London. Calpe House has purchased the buildings at a cost of £8.5 million but it will cost £5 million to complete the refurbishment.

The event was well attended with passers-by stopping to watch the speeches and donate some much needed funds. Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, Ministers Joe Bossano and Dr John Cortes, Vice Chairman of Calpe House Trust Albert Poggio and Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham all addressed the crowd. Producer of Stage One Productions James Neish hosted the event.

Calpe House Trustees Olga Zammit, Charles Marfe, George Desoisa and Chairman Charles Tilbury were also present at the event.
