Chess festival donates £1,000 for Neuroblastoma

The most popular event in the Gibraltar International Chess Festival social calendar is the very competitive Battle of the Sexes.

The fun night always attracts a large crowd and the top players are always keen to participate.

This year the teams were led by captains Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Antoaneta Stefanova and at the end of the eighth edition of this event it was the men who triumphed.

A £1,000 was once again donated to the Neuroblastoma Society on behalf of the festival organisers and presented to Shirley Callaghan.

The photographs show the players in action during the game played on a large chess board and the presentation to Mrs Callaghan together with her husband Brian the festival’s organiser.
