Controlled explosion at Eastern reclamation

The public are advised that at around 8:15am tomorrow morning a controlled explosion will be carried out at the Eastern Reclamation by officers of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.

This is expected to make a loud noise that is likely to be heard around the Rock.

The site of the detonation is surrounded by high ground and provides appropriate natural mitigation that exceeds the safety requirements of such an exercise.

Additional protective measures will be in place, including sandbags, a 500m exclusion zone at sea and a road cordon along a short section of Sir Herbert Miles Road.

The road cordon will be in place at around 8:15am tomorrow morning for a brief time whilst the detonation is carried out.

The public are advised to allow for possible delays to their journey if travelling along Sir Herbert Miles road at this time.
