Couple in court on cocaine charges

A “professional drugs trafficker” was found with a small stash of cocaine in his car and later accused police of “stitching him up”, the Supreme Court was told.

A 49-year old man went on trial yesterday accused of possession with intent to supply 7.9 grams of the Class ‘A’ drug as well as simple possession of the same.

His co-accused a 29-year old local woman faces the same charges.

Both deny the accusations.

Opening the case for the prosecution, Ricky Rhoda, QC, told the court that ten packets containing cocaine of 95% purity were found in a compartment under the driver’s seat of the male defendant's silver Mercedes in March 2015.
