Cyber seductress strikes again in ‘sextortion’ scam
An online seductress has struck again, duping a local man into a “sextortion” scam in a bid to blackmail him for cash.
This is the latest in a string of similar incidents targeting people in Gibraltar, prompting fresh warnings from police.
A simple Facebook friend request from an attractive woman is how the men are ensnared. Brief, type-written messages turn into video exchanges and shortly after the fraudster will threaten to edit and leak the footage online if the men fail to pay up.
Over the past few months’ seven local men have fallen victim to the blackmail scam involving ‘sextortion’ or sexual exploitation.
A spokesman for the Royal Gibraltar Police confirmed there had been a recent report, but nevertheless told the Chronicle the incidents are becoming less frequent.
