EasyJet investigates airport luggage mishap

A luggage error which saw hundreds of passenger’s bags loaded onto the wrong flights from Gibraltar International Airport is currently being investigated by EasyJet.

The investigation was launched following an incident on Sunday where the luggage for the Manchester bound flight was placed on the Gatwick plane and visa versa.

“We are aware that due to a loading error, hold bags intended for the flight to Manchester were incorrectly loaded on to the Gatwick flight and the Gatwick bags were loaded on to the Manchester flight,” said Andy Cockburn a media officer for easyJet.

“We are investigating the error with our baggage handlers and we would like to apologise to passengers for the inconvenience caused. We have been working to reunite passengers with their bags today [Monday],” he added.

Anyone affected by the mix up can submit a claims form for compensation via the delayed baggage form and passengers were sent a text informing them of this, Mr Cockburn confirmed.

Blands Group Ltd, who own and operate GibAir the handling company, told the Chronicle they are investigating the matter and are not making any further comments at this stage.
