The Gibraltar Social Democrats last night elected five new members into the ranks of its Executive.

At a General Meeting of the party held at the John Mackintosh Hall it was revealed that Nicholas Gomez, Dion Durham, Lydia Durham, Chris Edwards and Nuhaila Mkerref had been elected to the GSD Executive.

Mr Gomez is a 29-year old barrister noted for his civil and criminal law work, Mr Durham is a 46-year old Fund Manager while Ms Durham has been associated with the GSD since 1992.

17-year olds Mr Edwards and Miss Mkerref were also elected into the GSD Executive.

Mr Edwards has been an active member of the Young GSD since early 2013, and hopes to pursue a career in law in the near future.

Miss Mkerref became a member of the Young GSD in late 2014 from where she has developed a strong interest in educational policies. She hopes to pursue a history degree in the future.

Opposition Leader Daniel Feetham said it was good to see young people joining the party and that young people feel that they want to get involved in politics.

With regards to Ms Durham, he added that it was good to see that people who have held long associations with the GSD still want to be involved.
