Flower Show judge believes ‘bigger effort’ is needed for next year

Sheila Wing, this year’s judge at the annual Gibraltar Flower Show hails from Cornwall in the UK and used to run a garden centre and flower arranging club. Mrs Wing followed the Royal Horticultural Society guidelines when judging the event which will be display throughout the day today at the John Mackintosh Hall as from 9.30am. She told the Chronicle she felt this year’s entries fell well short of UK standards and a lot needed to be done in order to bridge the gap for next year.

“To be honest I have seen a lot better, but to be fair there has been a lot of effort put in,” she said. “People need to pay more attention to their flower arranging and their plants as there were many wilted leaves and dying shrubs. I’d love to come back next year as judge and see a massive improvement,” she said.
