GHA joins in promoting healthy options during summer activities
For the first time the Gibraltar Health Authority has launched a series of workshops on healthy eating for children as part of the Gibraltar Summer Sports and Leisure Programme.
The workshops are part of a new GHA initiative which aims to promote a healthy lifestyle through fun and games. The health promotion team have been at the helm of the workshops but have been aided by Gibraltar Sports and Leisure Authority sports leaders.
The children learnt through play and had to write down the names of healthy foods in a relay race and called themselves ‘team apples’ and ‘team bananas’.
The children aged between eight and ten also played a game based on snakes and ladders with health related questions.
Health Promotion Officer Daya Dewfall came up with the idea of the classes last year.
