GAMPA success in ‘Trinity College Rock and Pop’ exams

The Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts recently held the first ever Trinity College Rock and Pop Examinations on the Rock. These are exclusive to students from the academy and all 29 students passed with either Merit or Distinctions.

Trinity offers graded exams for a wide range of instruments and singing, from Initial to Grade 8.

“These exams offer the choice and flexibility to allow candidates to play to their strengths, enabling them to gain recognition for their own unique skills as performers. The exams reflect the way rock and pop performers learn – through playing the music,” explained Christian Santos.

He believes the exams give invaluable experience of planning and playing a set – and perfect preparation for auditions and performances in the future.

These exams are accredited qualifications. Every exam has been allocated a level and a number of credits in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“We are extremely proud to announce that all students passed with incredible results. The feedback from the examiner was extremely positive and we look forward to presenting more and more students every year.”

This year the academy will be introducing the Acting Examinations.

“We are extremely excited to be able to offer this possibility to all our students.

The Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts is very proud to be offering tuition and examination opportunities to students who choose to study both Classical and Rock and Pop music as well as Acting and Dram,” added Mr Santos.
